In the early 1500s Leonardo Da Vinci illustrated "La Divina" (The Divine Proportion) a book written by mathematician Luca Pacioli that described a mathematical theory called "The Golden Ratio" which was used in Renaissance paintings and sculptures to achieve balance and beauty. Da Vinci later called this Section Aurea or the Golden Section. The gold foil and swirl designs on the tuck bring the Golden ratio to life in this unique deck of cards. Aureo deck features unique designs inspired by the art of the Renaissance and the Golden Ratio.

Features a double backer with a black/white color on one side unlike other versions.

Shuffle up and deal. These beautiful playing cards have a minimal back design and custom face cards. Their familiar characteristics make them great for everyday use. The cards are packaged inside a luxurious printed letterpress tuckcase, with embossing and gold foil accents, and sealed with our trademark perforated stamp for easy opening. Produced in collaboration with Sideshow Press, and printed on a premium crushed stock developed by Dan & Dave with The United States Playing Card Company.

These custom playing cards were designed with an industrial look by Oliver Schiebener in Germany.

Per direct communication with the artist, there were 14k total decks manufactured (7k light, 7k dark). Of these, 4,200 of each color (4.2k/7k) received an official numbered and signed backer card, but there were a total of 7k printed for each color.

Out of the box, conjurors and collectors alike will enjoy 14 custom illustrated court-cards representing the foundational “makers” civilization has been built on. To us, these individuals are the pillars of unparalleled craftsmanship: something that we hold in the highest regard.

My interest in the art of Leonardo is lifelong. Realizing his work into modern playing card design has completely absorbed me this last year. Weaving elements of his paintings and drawings together and carefully integrating them has deepened my appreciation for Leonardo's sublime talent.
