Poison is a series of playing cards by Thirdway Industries, inspired by alchemy, pharmacy, and poisons, and set in a fictional America circa 1920. Designed by the Italian designer Giovanni Meroni. There are three decks in the Poison series: Aspis is the unlimited deck, printed by USPCC. Belladonna is the limited edition (1500) printed by LPCC. Kingslayer is a gilded, limited edition (printed in max 888 copies), Kickstarter exclusive!

The first deck of Thirdway Industries printed by Legends Playing Cards Co. is very experimental and bold: the tuck box of Poison Belladonna is printed with Pantone Inks on a layer of Holographic Mylar foil. The interior of the tuck will be purple and it will be embossed. Cards feature several metallic inks on front and back. The back is also printed on Holographic Mylar Foil, like the box. Belladonna is limited to 1500 copies (sealed and numbered).

After helping with a few successful card deck campaigns, we finally decided to start Excelsior Playing Cards. We were looking for a strong theme for our very own deck. We started by looking around at what was happening and what entertainment we were consuming.

The peak of the cyberpunk universe's influence on pop culture was in the '80s and late-'90s, but we have seen the genre striking back into the mainstream over the last few years. Successful franchising of Blade Runner 2049, Altered Carbon, Ghost in the Shell, Battle Angel Alita, and, of course, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 video game from the makers of The Witcher, show us that the genre’s looks, city concepts, and society intricating relations are coming back from their multidecade hibernation.

We wanted to create a deck that could reflect the exciting pop culture hype for the fans and, at the same time, have a luxurious look for cardists and magicians. There are very few decks printed with these thematics so far and even less from Bicycle® and rarely one with a 3D design. Therefore, this genre was a perfect match and a good choice for our unique style.
