Bicycle and U.S. Playing Card Co. celebrate over 130 years of playing card history with the reproduction of an early card back design called AutoBike No. 1. The original deck was printed from 1902 to 1906 and produced only in red and blue colors. The tuck and back designs illustrate the intricate style of the early Bicycle and Russell & Morgan brands, a feature an early version of a motorbike.

But we all know that it is not necessary to resort to this magic to do evil. Evil surrounds us every day. Conflicts, intolerance, selfishness ... are part of an increasingly tense and self-destructive human condition. After joining forces in the Bicycle Syndicate deck, Shape Shifters and Max Playing Cards decided to re-collaborate in a deck that showed another duality, that of good and evil, fusing ideas that would represent their passion for cards and design and a reflection on the life itself. This is how BICYCLE BLACK MAGIC came about, a deck that remembers that the forces of evil must be fought with magic and with hope too. For centuries, the Knights Templar have been the great defenders of the Holy Grail, the chalice used in the Last Supper Jesus shared with his apostles. These holy warriors have defended with their lives the constant attempts to steal the sacred object full of mysterious magical properties.

But the order of the Templars has disappeared and, with it, the secret of the Grail's whereabouts. Four great kingdoms fight to get it and do not hesitate to turn historical quarrels into real bloodshed battles.

The purity of the knight spirit is reflected in a white background back where the cross and the sword, symbols from the Templar imagery, are depicted in silver and red in an elaborate symmetrical composition. That symbology is also present in both jokers.

The traditional structure has also been kept in the numbered cards and in the poses of the court characters. Kings, queens and knights with their armor are ready for the fight.
