I put Twisted Artistry in motion 4 years ago. In the beginning it was a name I created, under which I built custom close-up pads and began building many gimmicks for Theory 11, which I still do to this day.

When I made the decision to create Twisted Artistry, decks were always something I wanted to create. I've finally hit that point in my career, after working full-time in the magic industry for 4 years. Nothing makes me more proud than to see my creations finally coming to life!

I designed this deck that was engineered specifically as a gambling deck, but can easily be used for cardistry and magic. This deck has the potential to be used in any way you see fit! Although the design and concept are mine, I couldn't have brought it to life without the faith of both Daniel Schneider and Murphy's Magic.

Following the success of the Joker and the Thief reprints, we have decided we want to focus on more original designs heading into the future. Since the beginning of our brand, we have developed a list of themes that we’ve wanted to explore. Nautical is one of them, and the perfect opportunity arose when we began collaborating with Gustavo Magalhães. As a passionate artist hailing from Brazil, Gus was keen to bring the concept to life and carry the symbolism, characters and vibe over to Seafarers.

We wanted to create a classic deck of cards reminiscent of vintage United States Playing Card Co. designs. We intentionally went this route because of how classic designs survive the test of time. Gus was instrumental in striking the balance between classic design and our signature vibe.

Seafarers took 6 months to design and was illustrated completely by hand, featuring a back design writhing with symbolism, an iconic ace of spades, as well a set of original court cards that tell an enchanting tale.

The court cards are all completely custom, with distinct characteristics. Each suit tells its own story, with each jack, queen and king symbolically linked.

Designed by Kentaro Yoshida and inspired by Dia de Los Muertos. Central to the Maidens theme is powerful and mystical feminine energy. Encapsulated by the shadows of the night, the back design has its own unique spirit. The maidens ensnared within the back design wander the spirit plain, a place far beyond our reach. They whisper harrowing secrets into your ear from beyond this world - the messengers of lost souls.
