Breaking news, we have just learned that what many have thought to be a myth for so many years does in fact exist. Recent reports are stating that bricks of the elusive gold playing cards were uncovered by Sergeant Major NOC after the war and are now locked away in a highly secured fort in Kentucky. The exact details of how this treasure was obtained, or why it has been shrouded in secrecy may always remain a mystery. Experts agree that putting a value on such a piece of history is nearly impossible, but we are certain it will increase in value after its public release. Appropriately named Fort NOCs, these playing cards will be released 100 years from when it was locked away on Nov. 18th 1918.

This is a mystery deck exclusive variant - Official Smokey Bear playing cards. Produced in association with the USDA Forest Service, the cards feature Smokey and twelve of his closest woodland friends, along with fire-prevention tips illustrated throughout the deck by Sam Larson. We spent time refining the world’s finest deck. It turned out better than we could ever imagine. We treated the back design with a vibrant, dramatic shade of red. For the tuck case, we worked alongside our print team to take an existing soft-touch paper and then darkened the tone while maintaining the vibrance of the red color.

For six months, we’ve been keeping one secret closely guarded. In collaboration with USPC, we began testing an experimental new process, for the first time applying gold foil DIRECTLY on the back of playing cards.

The cards are then processed with Bicycle’s most durable finish - resulting in a card that spreads, fans, shuffles, and tears just like a normal playing card. Based on research at USPC, they’re 400% more durable and 30% more flexible than any other foil application. Scratch them, twist them, tear them, bend them - the foil doesn’t come off.
