The First Edition of the Encarded Standard deck features a metallic blue back and a 70's vintage-inspired, top loading tuck box with silver foil and embossing details.

Printed by the Expert Playing Card Company (the same printer as the amazing Zenith deck), the Standards feature the perfect borders, smooth edges and amazing handling customary to every EPCC deck.

This first edition is a small run, with less than 2500 decks available from Encarded and roughly 500 more available exclusively from Conjuring Arts. 

Once this First Edition sells out, we will design an entirely new box and release a new deck color so that we always have a great, affordable and usable deck in stock. This classic blue will always be the first, so be sure to get some of this limited run while you can!

The first deck we call Ascendant. Its design incorporates all the refinements that we have learned over the years and mixes those with the organic symmetry first seen in Tendril. The colors are bold, the borders are intense, the faces are dark and the level of detail has been increased.

The box is printed on a soft-touch matte black paper with incredible metallic green details and subtle gloss black foil tendrils. This deck was printed by USPCC in a limited run of less than 5,000 and will never be reprinted.

Nightfall is a mirror of the original, with much the same art and layout. We designed the original to be as if you were in the tropical rainforest, peering up at the sun through the natural habitat. Nightfall is that same view, but time-shifted to the evening, when the moon is glowing and the light is cool and dark. We subtly refined many aspects of the original design and added some visual texture and detail. Nightfall is the perfect companion to the original Tendril deck.

The box features deep blue metallic foil, debossed accents and vibrant color artwork. This deck was printed by USPCC in a limited run of 5,000 and will never be reprinted.

Almost a decade ago, Moonshine Playing Cards (First Edition) came screaming into the magic world. Seemingly from nowhere and overnight, right into the hands of some of the most well-known and respected magicians all over the world.

Like a fine Whiskey, every detail of the deck was curated with precision and fine detail, culminating in a deck of cards that was greater than the sum of all its parts. The stock choice, finish and even the color of the inks used all worked together in synergy to bring you a deck that was in and of itself, an enigma.

Magicians from around the world contacted creator Lloyd Barnes to ask what exactly the secret recipe was used to achieve the intricate blend of feel, texture, and delicate balance.

Lloyd never shared his secret.

Instead, he hid them away, honed the design and carved away at each nuance until what's left is a redefined distilled deck of beautiful playing cards bound together by design and deception. Moonshine Vintage Elixir capture the elegance, mystery, and tactile feel of what you already know and love yet hide more secrets within than ever before.

The Shadows campaign features two new decks and a special hand crafted Black Label edition, inspired by rare 16th century originals. The goal for this campaign is again to produce premium quality decks.

The Shadows deck is a modern deck inspired by historic originals. It will be printed by the United States Playing Card Company. Rare art sheets which form the inspiration for these decks were sourced over months from respected archives including the British Museum, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Archives Department of Seine-Maritime, and Fitzwilliam Museum of Cambridge.

Religion was a major theme in 16th century art and the Shadows deck is inspired by the story of Adam and Eve, and the choice between Innocentia (innocence) and Cognitio (the acquisition of knowledge). Which will you choose?

The Shadows of History Balck Label deck will feature: individually letterpressed in gold foil and hand assembled by myself. The deck will feature an ornate translucent inner wrapper and a unique ribbon pull. The deck will be signed and numbered with a metallic seal. The cards themselves will be from the Shadows deck with full colour face cards and metallic backs.

Funded as a Kickstarter project on February 22, 2014 with $69,452 NZD (just over $50k USD) pledged from 1,109 backers, this was a set of two decks consisting of the First Edition (standard blue tuck unlimited deck) and Grail (white tuck limited edition of 2,500 decks), plus 20 very limited commemorative sets in wooden boxes and an uncut version. Both tucks were embossed and hot stamped with gold foil with a custom seal and featured the intricately designed card back image on the back of the tuck.

A number of additional add-ons including shirts, prints, collector box, coin, poster, etc were also available.

Designed by Rick Davidson of New Zealand, this deck featured a re-interpretation of the original 15th century face cards from Rouen, France that was the basis for the current standard courts now used on so many common playing card decks. Rick carefully studied many historic cards and prints from this time period (http://originscards.com/archive/) to create his new interpretations, but also occasionally brought in modern day inspirations for facial features, including Charlize Theron for the Queen of Clubs.

The cards were printed on casino quality Bee stock with a magic finish from USPCC with special Q1 quality production. In addition, magician Lee Asher, helped design the gaff card included with the deck that featured the King of Spades and Queen of Hearts. This PCDB Entry is for the Grail Edition which was limited to a maximum of 2,500 decks and in the Pearlesque Natural Pearl colored tuck. The Grail cards feature a subtly different silver accented metallic color scheme to the First Edition.

The Rouen 1567 deck will feature: A premium quality tuck case with embossing. The cards will feature recreations of extremely rare historic cards from 1567. These cards are drawn as closely as possible to the originals, with the addition of indices for playability. The subtle back design is a design based on historic references as the originals had plain backs.

The Shadows deck will be produced using the highest quality paper sourced from sustainable forests, and printed with vegetable-based inks and starch-based laminates.
