Facsimile produced exclusively for Murdoch\'s Gem Shop, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. This deck is a reproduction of one of four different decks which were made for the White Pass & Yukon Train Route. There are 52 cards, each featuring an oval photo scene from along the route, and one Table of Distances card with a map of the route on the reverse. Included is a leaflet telling the story of the times. In the year 1898 the greatest gold rush the world has ever seen took place. It has been estimated that 100,000 people worldwide started out, and 30,000 of them actually reached Dawson City. To accomodate the gold seekers White Pass built a 110 mile narrow gauge railaroad, that had been called impossible, through the 3,000 foot high White Pass in the coastal mountains. Two years later a fleet of sternwheel river boats were added to the transportation system and the playing cards reproduced here were provided to the passengers. From design studio Turnstyle comes a custom deck of playing cards inspired by the magical and surreal world of Wonderland. Beware the Queen of Hearts!

Steve originally submitted this deck for us after he created it is a promotional piece for his son's elementary school's stage production of Alice in Wonderland. After falling in love with the deck, we approached Steve to launch this stunning promotional deck into a produced campaign, with a portion of the proceeds going to Loyal Heights Elementary School.

These limited edition playing cards, designed by Turnstyle, are inspired by Lewis Caroll’s classic fairy tale Alice in Wonderland. Modern styling combined with lavish Art Nouveau/Art Deco ornamentation transport us down the rabbit hole to a surreal world presided over by the Queen of Hearts. Iconic quotes from the story are peppered throughout the deck and on the tuck box. Court cards feature typographic royals with custom suit symbols as crowns. Attention to typographical nuances, including a bespoke “double” typeface, are evocative of the mysterious parallel worlds of both Wonderland and cardistry—where sleight of hand means that what you see is not necessarily what you get. This deck is the first production of Dani DaOrtiz with Jack Nobile (D & J) as a whole, associated with Grupokaps (Gkaps) and AssoKappa. It is influenced by the DVD, Juan Tamariz - Magic From My Heart (Grupokaps 2017), in a tribute to one of the geniuses of magic. A project of almost a year, created from love, admiration, and passion. Today, it finally sees the light. The design by Jonathan Cadenazzi and Arnaldo Thomas DeRosa, focuses on highlighting some of the aspects that caricature and enhance the figure of Juan: the spider and the violin (imaginary). Already in his legendary book Sonata, we can see many illustrations of musical notes resting on staves woven by fun spiders drawn by hand by Juan himself. And it is these, the spiders, that always put an end to every thought written by Juan Tamariz, because it is also present in Juan's signature. An innocent spider, weaving threads of ingenuity, creativity... but above all, love of magic. A spider that, if it does not appear in this deck, could never be the Juan Tamariz deck.
