This series takes as reference the relationship between the nomads of Xiongnu in ancient Northern Asia and the well-known Chinese lunar calendar represented by 12 animals. In this calendar each animal is related to the lunar year of birth and also marks, according to its beliefs, the destiny of each person.

Since a series of 12 decks would be too ambitious for a single project, we decided to launch the first deck dedicated to the PIG year (2019) and then to continue within a year.

About the Deck: Cards have been beautifully illustrated combining ancestral and modern techniques. The original drawings have been created with a Buddhist painting technique called “nagtan”. This technique uses dark backgrounds and luminous brush strokes. The digital treatment of these illustrations eliminates the dark backgrounds to achieve cleaner and more colorful cards.

Each deck has been customized according to the animal it represents. Thus, the court cards show animals with human aspect and dressed in colorful period costumes. The faces are full of details.

Each deck also includes texts with relevant aspects for each sign such as positive and negative colors, lucky numbers, matching signs and enemies, etc…

In addition, each deck will have four jokers for joker collectors.

We released the series in 2 versions as Limited and Standard versions. But in reality there is a little difference between the two. They are: numbered seals (which make exclusive LE eliminating by 600) and UV varnish on tuck box of Limited Edition. But SE edition tuckbox will have either 3rd foil orUV warnish, which will give a interesting look to SE decks not less luxurious but even may be more interesting colorful look than Limited Edition. After seeing result of test printing we are having more attitudes toward using 3rd foil.

Both looks luxurious with 2 or 3 foils, emboss and metallic paper. So we think, after reaching certain goal ($5000 may be) we can make numbered seal on Standard version. Of course, it is open for discussion. As shows the campaign with pig year deck, the difference in numbers between LE and SE is not so drastic reaching several hundreds. So the Standard version might have ceiling of 600 too.

Diamon Playing Cards is a project created by Artedame Dutch Design Studio in collaboration with several Cardists and Magicians. The artwork of all the (upcoming) decks consists of diamonds assembled with mathematical precision to create a harmonious composition. In the base the design exists of two colours, which complement each other and fuse to create a unique pattern. For the first Diamon Cards deck, three designs have been created. These were extensively tested and improved several times. Eventually the choice for the back has fallen on design N° 2. The disposition is composed of shades from lime to forest green and cyan to night blue. This summer season theme is exposed beautifully and functions incredibly well, handling to highest standards for perfect flourishes, fans and shuffling the cards. While making the fronts we respected the traditional court cards and pips, yet also harmonized the theme and pattern, together with the custom tuck box. The index is left standard to easily differentiate the cards when the deck is used for magic or ordinary card games.​

Although similar to the 8-Bit Gold Edition, there are slight differences -- most notably, the lack of a Bicycle logo, the custom gold deck seal, and the die-cut cover that allows the back of the card to show in the upper left corner of the shield. The deck pays tribute to 1980's video game systems and is meant to take players back to the good old days of 8-bit gaming. The court cards have awesome pixel characters and there are hidden retro gems throughout the deck. The deck contains 56 cards in total, which includes 52 playing cards, 2 jokers, 1 double-back, and 1 gaff card.
