The Good Deck is the positive twin of The Evil Deck, the first project of Giovanni Meroni of Thirdway Industries. It was launched on Cardlauncher.com; however, it was not funded and was only produced as a prototype. The French sized deck a printed product in the classic sense, 100% made in linocut and 666% evil. Originally intended as a little private pleasure, the project grew rapidly. The four colors are subject to different themes: war, impermanence, greed and religion. Since linocut colors are not resistant to abrasion, it was necessary to shift production to offset printing. The production costs were financed through Kickstarter.

The 1818 decks represent the luxury peak of the "Bold" project. Up to 82 (1-81 plus no. 0) hand-numbered decks were released into the world. The 1818 Experimental decks, in particular, belong to a run of 18 decks with hand-crafted, special gilding realized in Italy. Each participant was given the possibility to choose the color of the tucks and the deck to gild (Deluxe or STD). With 3 possible colors for the paper stock and 2 possible decks to gild, the experiment led to 6 combinations. Why 1818? Giambattista Bodoni’s Manuale Tipografico is considered one of history’s greatest typographical achievements. Among other things, Bodoni’s Manual of Typography explores the origins of the much-loved Bodoni typeface, which is a fundamental element for the Bold decks too. The book was first published posthumously in 1818.

The deck is about the dichotomy of a life at sea. The Red side of the deck; hearts and diamonds; explores famous sailors, explorers, pirates, and privateers of the age of sail. The court cards focus on the actual historical figures of the time and the cards ranked 2-10 of the hearts and diamonds feature different types of ships. The dark side of the deck explores the dangers sailors would face; be them real or fantasy. Court cards for the spades and clubs explore the monstrous creatures thought to lurk below the waves, while the ranked 2-10 cards focus more on superstitions and ghost ships.
