Manufactured by USPCC, this unbranded deck reportedly was in development for 5 years with 3 designers working together before Ellusionist released it in 2009 as the first in their new line of signature playing cards. This is the white version of the Arcane deck, but there was also a black version, as well as a rare red and gold ones (variations of the black). The deck was designed for magic and cardistry use by the use of the unique back design and custom jokers plus gaff card, in addition to standard game play. Many may consider the unique jokers the most interesting component from a collector perspective. The courts feature variations of standard courts with modified outfits and smokey/faded look. Timeless Americana is laced throughout the design, with iconography of colonial America and patriotic symbols of peace, prosperity, and potential. Unions are Made in America, using FSC-certified paper, vegetable-based inks, and starch-based laminates.

Unions were designed by Jay Fletcher in Charleston, South Carolina - one of the oldest and most historic cities in America.

Over a year in development, every aspect of the design was created from scratch - from the breathtaking court cards to the back design and Ace of Spades.

Citizens are the most intricate, breathtaking playing cards we’ve ever produced. Illustrated in America by Kevin Cantrell, every aspect was handcrafted with relentless, unrivaled attention to detail. 

For the first time, we combined gold foil, hot stamping, and bronze foil to create a box design that’s eye catching, elegant, and sophisticated.

Even the inside of the box has a breathtaking, intricate guilloche pattern. The Joker and back design bear the Latin phrase “Audentes Fortuna Iuvat.” Fortune favors the brave. The Ace of Spades features an iconic Citizen “C” emblem.
