With our third deck we wanted to take a different approach in art style to keep everyone guessing. We decided to bring the theme back to our foundation: Pharmacy. Since we were going back to our roots, we decided that the best way to do so would be to pay homage to the old school small town pharmacies on Main Street. We wanted to bring you back to a time where artwork was ornate and quality items came packaged inside metal tins. Instead of using the standard Bicycle or Arrco courts, we thought that we would update them while still giving them a vintage feel. We teamed up with Russ Gray again (the illustrator from our first deck: Meadowlark Playing Cards) and challenged him to create a classic deck inspired by Vintage Pharmacy. Sovereign is a homage to some of the most well-known Kings and Queens of the greatest European empires of all times. Sovereign reimagines the courts of a standard deck with illustrations that are gorgeous and colorful, with intricate details.

Sovereign, a person who has supreme power or authority...

This campaign is my attempt to represent Sovereign, which is defined as:

Having supreme rank, power, or authority - supreme; preeminent; indisputable - greatest in degree; utmost or extreme - being above all others in character, importance, excellence.

Each one of the historical kings and queens depicted in this deck are a shadow of what true sovereignty is meant to be. Each one was flawed like us all, but were seen as divinely anointed. The kings and queens were honored as divinity its self. Birth right and elevation, great responsibility and power.

Passione Playing Cards presents Vivaldi: a playing cards project that aims to bring the baroque vibe and the music of the Italian composer and violinist Antonio Vivaldi into a set of masterfully illustrated decks.

The Vivaldi ensemble is composed of two main decks: Vivaldi Allegro and Vivaldi Largo. Vivaldi Concerto is a special, limited and numbered book-like edition holding the playing cards of both variations. Stretch goals will add a series of goodies that will be revealed later in the campaign. Stay tuned!

In Vivaldi Allegro characters are drawn with a (bowed) string instrument. All court cards are custom, and the colour scheme of each suit matches the mood of a season in order to homage The Four Seasons: one of the most famous masterpieces composed by Antonio Vivaldi.
