I am planning to make a special edition of the Liber Ludorum cards, with a more premium tuck box. The tuck boxes will be hot foil stamped on coloured cardstock, there will be two colour options produced, limited to around 300 examples each. The Pike and Clover cards are a set of playing cards drawn in the style of old tarot cards, but with the standard playing card suits of clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades. The pips become real objects rather than abstract stencilled shapes, and the court figures can interact with them, as they often do in cards with the Spanish / Italian suits. The court figures themselves retain some of their characteristics and appearance from the standard English playing card pattern, though they are reimagined and redrawn in the historical tarot style.

Liber Ludorum is a deck of playing cards created in the insular art style, as seen in gospel books of medieval Ireland and Britain.

In the scriptoria of monasteries of early medieval Britain and Ireland, breathtakingly beautiful illuminated manuscripts were created. The characteristic decorative patterns, calligraphic texts, and illustrative styles of these manuscripts are easily recognisable, and together make up what is now usually called the insular style. The Lindisfarne Gospels and the Book of Kells are no doubt the most famous of the insular gospel books, but there are also others.

Certain pages in the gospel books were illuminated with wonderful artwork, including detailed patterns of many kinds, and also portraits, usually of the four evangelists. The patterns were often used to make decorative borders, surrounding the portraits or canon tables. They were also used to make ornamented letters and text in so-called incipit pages, highly decorated pages with the first words of each of the gospels. Other pages were filled completely with patterns, and these are now usually called carpet pages.

The Liber Ludorum playing cards are a set of cards drawn in the style of an insular gospel book, with aces resembling the so-called carpet pages, and the court cards inspired by evangelist portraits.

Playing cards arrived in Europe at the end of the late medieval period, rather later than the time when the insular art style flourished. There can be no doubt that creating a set of playing cards would be far from the minds of the insular scribes while they were working on their gospel books. And yet we do have other surviving manuscripts, also illuminated, written by students of the medieval church, filled with thoughts of gaming, playing, changing fortunes and twisting fates, and our earthly existence.

There are the 22 trump cards (including the fool), plus four suits of pips 1-10 and court cards jack, knight, queen, king. The suits are the usual tarot suits of swords, cups, coins, and clubs. The cards will be printed at a size of 62 x 100 mm. This is a similar width to "poker size" playing cards, but a little taller, a similar aspect ratio to "bridge size" cards, but a little bigger. The cards will be printed on black-core cardstock, smooth finish. This cardstock is very similar to a typical good quality modern continental European playing card stock. The cards will be supplied in a custom printed tuck box.

The Viceroys playing cards are a newly created deck of playing cards featuring artwork by Ian Cumpstey. The cards are inspired by the ornately patterned medieval Mamluk cards, but based around the standard playing card suits. Thus, the cards have the makeup of a standard deck of cards with suits of clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades. In keeping with the Mamluk style, the court cards (Jack, Queen, and King) do not have pictures of human figures, but instead feature calligraphic mottoes, along with the elaborate floral designs seen on every card. The cards also have corner indices. The style and appearance of these cards are based on the traditional German-suited playing cards that have been used in parts of Europe for hundreds of years, and are still used today. However, the Commoners cards are drawn with the typical international standard (French) suits ... so keen observers of my previous work will spot that this is in a similar spirit to my Viceroys and Pike and Clover cards. Much of the artwork is also inspired by my local landscape and surroundings in Cumbria in the north of England

The Illuminated Tarot 'folds' the traditional 78 cards of a tarot deck into just 53 cards, by combining certain combinations of major and minor arcana cards together into one. The deck is constructed upon playing cards, and also includes a Joker card.

Christmas was a magical time for a child in the1960's. The Christmas tree sparkled with tinsel and ornaments, the twinkling lights filled the dimly familiar rooms with a whole new ambiance of hope and possibilities.
