Messymod, short for Messy Modernism, is a minimal approach to graphic-design conceived by Los Angeles based creative team, TRÜF. Born from their love of geometry, pattern, white space, Bauhaus, Miró and perhaps a little too much caffeine.

After being introduced to their work earlier this year we knew right away we had to collaborate on a deck. Seven months later and we couldn't be more happy with the outcome.

The playing cards feature a completely custom design in typical Messymod fashion which can be described as minimal, modern, graphic, quirky, stylized, grotesque, delightful and just plain weird.

Packaged in a premium letterpress-printed tuck box both inside and out. Printed by the U.S. Playing Card Co. on our trademark thin stock preferred by cardists.

These cards embody the allure of the emerald drink, the hallucinogenic haze, sugar crystals in the night, the Ace of Spades modelled after the filigree of the absinthe spoon. With its heavy embossing and text that pokes fun at itself, even the box appears to have had a few drinks. Originally printed for the Prohibition Box Set, the Absinthe Version 2 deck has been tweaked slightly to keep the integrity in design, whilst also allowing you to own more than one deck, without having to buy multiple Prohibition sets. This deck is too cool for display, it has to be shown off...

Based on vintage Las Vegas casino playing cards, Cherry Casino Playing Cards pay homage to the classics of Sin City. Like Jerry’s Nuggets or Wynns, the Cherries back design is a simple, symmetrical back, perfect for card games and magic performances alike.
