ABOUT THIS DECK

The Met has partnered with Lingo on these one-of-a-kind playing cards inspired by the Museum's holdings. Arms and armor have appeared in virtually every culture through the millennia, though their styles, materials, and applications are vast. Comprising some 14,000 objects, this specialized collection is one of the most comprehensive of its kind. From a magnificent Japanese mask (1745) bearing the ferocious face of Jikokuten, one of the Four Kings of Heaven, to an exquisitely decorated British suit of gold and steel (1527) probably forged for King Henry VIII, this deck presents highlights and hidden gems of the Museum's renowned Department of Arms and Armor. 56 cards per deck. Collaboration between The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Lingo Playing Cards. The naming convention used by The Met appears to be in the style of "The Met x [collaborator]". Not explicitly stated but probably Classic Air Cushioned Finish.
