Reproduction. (Original production run was limited to 72 decks). From 'The World of Playing Cards' : The “English Playing Card Society's 1Oth Anniversary Transformation” pack was published in 1993. The pack is based on the theme of English nursery rhymes and was immediately hailed as Karl's Masterpiece. To make the design of the pack into an authentic Transformation pack Karl kept the correct positions of the pips and based his designs around them with ingenuity. The pack was produced as a “Luxury” edition with all cards hand-coloured and gilt edged, and a “Standard” edition with the court cards coloured but the suit signs only coloured on the numerals.

This was a Limited Edition of 30 Packs of Playing Cards with unique designs reflecting the adopted home of Karl – BATH They measure 60mm x 93mm Each pip card show a scene from Bath’s attractive architecture and Parks The cards are French suited with unusual coloring. The Diamond suit depict Churches and Chapels The Club suit shows club parks and open spaces The Heart suit portrays bridges and water features and the Spade suit – buildings and Streets The Court cards depict portraits of people who figured in the history of Bath – some real, some imaginary. The cards are, as is common with Karl’s card, etched and tastefully hand painted producing miniature works of art.

Celebrating 35 years of Garbage Pail Kids

This rare deck, of which few copies survive, has been chosen by the English Playing Card Society to mark their 25th Anniversary. For this reproduction an EPCS member, Barney Townshend, spent many hours restoring the splendour of the images. While they still have the appearance of antique cards, stains, damaged edges and faded wording and colour have been repaired. A limited editon distributed to EPCS members while an unknown number were available for sale.
