The Helius Sun Playing Card includes 2 versions: a Classic Edition (Left) and a Deluxe Edition (Right). The box for Helius Sun is just as special as Luna Moon, and incorporates some complimentary details. The Maroon Red box is reminiscent of the Sun’s flaming heat. The rigid, hexagon opening represents the Sun’s fierceness. The opening of the box is like sunray beaming towards us on Earth, providing the warmth and freedom that we so desperately after months of freezing cold.

Inspired by Maya mythology, the deck comes in two variations differentiated by color scheme, named "The Sun Deck" and "The Moon Deck":

The Mayans were ardent astronomers. They believed that celestial bodies were gods and interpreted their movements as gods traveling among Earth, the underworld, and other celestial destinations. Since these gods were greatly involved in human affairs (to the point that many events were planned according to certain celestial moments; dynasties often claimed to have descended from the sun or the moon), the Mayans heavily studied every aspect of the sky, especially the sun and the moon.

About the Maya moon:

- The moon was one of the most enigmatic and important elements of Maya mythology, which often associated it with a maiden, an old woman, or a rabbit.

- The Maya moon goddess is Ixchel, the patroness of fertility and the creation of life.

- The Mayans were aware of the moon's influence on tidal waves, harvests, and fertility, so they dedicated themselves to identifying and recording its phases.

There is a legend that said a phoenix is the messenger of good fortune. Every 500 years, it collects all the worldly hardships, grievances and hate and turns them into happiness and prosperity by throwing itself into the raging fire.

In China, the sacred and auspicious phoenix, alongside the imperial dragon, is worshipped and celebrated by the nation due to their connection to the hope for a good life and deep love. They say that when a phoenix spreads its majestic wings, the surroundings are blinded by the brilliant sunlight reflecting off them. That exact fantastical picture has inspired me to create this new deck called “Dark Phenoix - Parasol Tree Playing Cards”. The ”Dark Phoenix” tries to express the glorious sight of a phoenix spreading its wings, facing the sunlight.
