The lives of all within these walls are safe from demonic descent or even the downfall of a destructive deluge, for the astute gargoyles will defer either attack away from this hallowed sanctuary and bid them return from whence they came.”

Stone Garden is a uniquely designed custom deck of playing cards that exalts the gothic gargoyle; statues and architectural adornments whose purpose lay in the protection of the individuals within Medieval Churches. Created by Jody Eklund, Stone Garden captures, the style of this by-gone age, with the striking reflectivity of double-sided full-foil printing.

This technique, uncommon to playing cards, highlights the perfect detail within the art. Additionally these images are brought to life through sculpted embossing which brings an elegance to the deck worthy of these noble protectors sculpted upon medieval roofs and buttresses.

Brand new packaging design never seen before in a deck of playing cards, with completely custom faces and Cold Foil card backs, this deck release sets a new standard. Each deck comes sheathed in a metallic sleeve with a custom seal. The tuck box is inspired by Cigarillo packaging and engineered by our team to perfectly fit a deck of playing cards instead of mini-cigars. Pull on the half-moon cutouts with your fingers and the tuck will slide out in a tray and hinge down, allowing you to effortlessly pull out the deck in a seamless action. This deck is one of our first to be printed on Pre-Crushed Classic Finish card stock. Crushing the paper fibers elongates them making the paper slightly more supple than Classic Finish. Coupled with cigar inspired fonts and quirky custom faces by Graeme Reed, the deck unboxing and handling experience will put a smile on your face.

The deck will be collectible, in order to comply with the regulations there will be only one print run of a maximum of 2500 copies (but only 111 copies come to life) and will never be reprinted again! The theme of the deck is printing, namely four-color printing (today we call this the CMYK color model). All decks in the world are printed by mixing these 4 colors, but not a single deck up to this point has been printed only with them, without mixing. The Lithographic Joker launched a machine to preserve and multiply knowledge, to make it cheaper and more accessible for all people. The motto of the deck is taken from the publishing house of Aldo Manutia - Festina lente (Act slowly). There are two jokers in the deck and they are identical, which is often critical for demonstrating tricks with replacement and disappearance. Linen Finish coating (yes, in Russia, you heard right), which creates an air gap between the cards and significantly increases the wear resistance, elasticity and slip of the deck. It is enough to remember the company "Fontaine", the titan of the card world, which uses this coating, and all the questions will disappear. A new arrangement of suits on fosks and brisks (on cards from 2 to 10) is based on a narrow rhombus on a 10 with a 3-4-3 pattern. The main suits on the honers are made in halves one at a time, which doesn’t interfere with recognizing the face value of the card, but gives free space for the image, due to which it no longer seems to be “pressed” into the frames. The card becomes stylish, minimalistic and looks like nothing else. This is something that I can be proud of, and if it catches on, you know who was the first ;) There are four indexes on each card, two standard and two small black, especially for left-handed people holding cards with a thumbs-out grip. All the models on the honers are my friends, real and wonderful people, painstakingly drawn and stylized as a card deck. There is a mirror symmetrical pattern on the backs. When the florish opens, the deck forms beautiful bands of CMYK colors. All the colors of the deck are intertwined on the Ace of Spades and create a pattern that symbolizes the knowledge that has become available thank to industrial printing, which is what the Lithographic Joker wanted to achieve by launching the printing press. Someone sees the crown of a tree with the leaves directed upwards in a general impulse, towards the light, someone sees swollen, ripe ears of wheat, and what will you see?
