Inspired by an old pack of cards from the 90s released as a promotional item by Philip Morris for their discount cigarette brand, Bucks. We've always liked this deck for its vintage back design, color pallet, unique quality, and of course, the title. Long out of print and somewhat hard to track down, we decided to make our own.

Illustrated by Jeff Trish to look as close to the original as possible but with a two-headed deer as the Buck Twins. Additional details include a custom Ace of Spades, Joker, and promotional card.

To commemorate the fifteen-anniversary release of Smoke & Mirrors playing cards we worked with our longtime friend and collaborator Brad Fulton to design an all-new edition inspired by 19th-century typography—a homage to the original Smoke & Mirrors design featuring intricate details in black and white for a sophisticated look. The cards feature our trademark D&D monogram in a new typeset surrounded by a mosaic pattern on the backs along with a custom ace of spades, joker, and suits for the number cards. Printed by the U.S. Playing Cards Co. on our trademark thin stock using classic Arrco-style court cards. Packaged inside a letterpress-printed tuck box sealed with a stamp. Available in Smoke (White) and Mirrors (Black) along with a limited edition Twinpack signed and numbered by the artists 1 through 500.

This red edition introduces striking visuals and dualistic ideas of human versus machine while accelerating the warm aura first established with v6 Rouge (2011). What does it mean to be a human cardist? Playing cards are fine-tuned to the anatomy of the human hand. Cultural significance and symbols are scattered throughout the courts, pips and numbers. Revisiting these seemingly obvious facts — and either embracing or challenging them — may lead us to better understand the current state and future potential of our art form.
