ABOUT THIS DECK
ZERO is the foundation of the cosmos. Without nothing, all would coalesce into one giant mass devoid of any form or composition. It is abstract, but the simplest concept to grasp, even by a toddler. The beginning and some say the end of all, is the theme for our deck.
The design of the deck is inspired by the Art Deco movement of the 1920s and 1930s, a time when extraordinary leaps were made in the fields of physics and chemistry.
The front of the tuck box is simple, there are no words, taglines, or branding, just the number zero in holographic foil, held in between two brackets the cardinality of an empty set or null set in mathematics. The rings foiled in gunmetal are converging or diverging from the text signifying the nature of the number; the beginning, and the end of everything.
Only the central part of the front design is debossed taking inspiration from a black hole, except for the title of the deck which is raised, giving a tactile response as you feel the details of the tuck.
The back of the tuck is a cosmic representation of the number as if the number zero is held at the center of an abstract atom, and the whole cosmic existence is emerging from it. The ring's design is holographic foiled intermittently coupled with a dark gun metal foil giving depth to the design. Furthermore, like the front of the tuck box, the back has only its central design debossed, giving further breathing room and depth to the spiraling abstract design that is central to the tuck box's back.
The top lid of the tuck box has the text "It All Began From Nothing" written on it in gun metal foiling. The area surrounding the text is debossed with the text raised, giving a similar tactile response as the front and back of the case.
The left side of the case has our branding in holographic foil, raised amidst a debossed negative space. The right similarly has the name of our card producer WJPC foiled beautifully in gunmetal foil amidst a debossed abstract frame.
The true fun of the Zero Playing Cards deck comes out with the holographic foiling. Since Zero is the beginning and end of everything we know in creation, we thought a holographic foil would be the ideal representation of the theme through a foil that breaks the spectrum into its infinite constituent shades.
The cards themselves are conceptually designed where one half of the deck is inversely shaded to the other half resulting in a null shade when both sides are superimposed on top of each other. The card back for the deck is elegantly printed in silver metallic Ink and deep black offset. A wave runs through the design creating the inversion line between the negative and positive color spaces. The wave also gives it an organic natural feel, that is so necessary for depicting the cosmic zero or null. Finally, two curly brackets, the repeating motif of this deck sits as the central focal point of the design from which radiates lines towards an endless edge. The card back fans out into this beautiful elegant metallic silver or black pattern, a striking way to showcase the deck in your special magic or card trick performances.
The tritone face cards of the Zero Playing Cards deck are richly designed with silver metallic ink, and black or orange offset ink - juxtaposed with paper white bringing out the metallic shininess against the matte black or orange ink. Each face card like all other cards in the deck has half of the card inversely shaded from the wave-like design point at the central region of the card. The face cards also have minute details painted in, giving them greater sharpness and contrast. The diamond and hearts suits instead of black are shaded with a deep brick red orange creating an intricate variety amidst the four suits.
The four suits of the Zero Playing Cards deck have custom layouts and pips inspired by the Art Deco movement as seen through the design language of the deck. Each pip is elegant, with every odd number card breaking the inverse design philosophy with its custom pip located at the central focal point of the card. The number cards also have a special feature unlike any other deck out there. Each number card's denomination has its negative value on the opposite side end, theoretically adding up to zero; a fun little detail making the Zero Playing Cards deck even more unique. The Four Aces of the Zero Playing Cards deck are the central designer cards for each suit, bringing forward the design language of the 1920s and the Bauhaus art movement. Each ace card has a 3D depth due to the design structure, an optical illusion in a rather unique collectible deck.
The 2 Jokers of the Zero Playing Cards deck is a special treat where the design gives it a unique 3D illusion akin to the back of the tuck box. The curved lines have a shadow effect applied on top of the bottom pattern to give it depth. The second Joker is inverted in shading to the first. The metallic center brings out the 3D depth creating a faux holographic effect. The shadows lines of the first joker now form the prominent curved structure creating the impression of an intricately drawn out frame design.
