Outstanding original watercolours by L. Palao about the colonization by Spain of Central & South America. Made by Viuda E Hjos de H. Fournier, Vitoria. Presented at the Iberian-American Exhibition in Seville, 1929. This is a facsimile of the deck created in 1929, reproduced to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Ibero Americana Exposition (Seville & Barcelona), the first World Fair in Spain. Suits & Figures Gold Escudos - Christopher Columbus - his first voyage 1492. Figures: Fernando V; Cortes : Pinzon Drinking Glasses - of the time, preserved in different museums. Figures: Carlos I; Pizarro; Mendoza Swords - Figures: Felipe II; Legazpi; Magallanes Clubs - Figures: King Montezuma; Atahualpa; Caonabo Reverse: Coat of Arms of Spain in the time of Charles I, with the golden fleece. The outer border is formed by the 22 shields of the American Republics, with the shield of Portugal. in the four corners are stamped the arms of Castile, Navarre, Leon and Aragon. 40 cards (complete) 6.2 cm x 9.5 cm In special box - plastic frame in paper sleeve.
