Standard German Saxon Pattern, with Germanic suits (leaves, acorns, hearts and bells) and German Indeces (D K O U). The cards are double headed, and this pack probably dates to the early 20th century. The designs for the Saxon pattern probably originated in the 18th century, making it one of the older German-suited patterns. The Saxony coat-of-arms appears on the daus of acorns (under a lion's head) and on the daus of leaves.

Italian regional pattern. From 'The World of Playing Cards': Primiera Bolognese was a gambling game played in Italy from the first half of the 16th century and this pattern derives from that period or even earlier. As it is now produced as a double-ended deck, some archaic features have been chopped off. Originally it had maids instead of jacks in cups and coins (a feature shared in Florentine Minchiate) and it also shares court card designs with Tarocco di Bologna. The dragon head on the ace of swords can still be seen.

Italian Regional Pattern. From 'The World of Playing Cards' : The Italian ‘Piacentine’ pattern has Italo-Spanish suit symbols and slightly narrow, elongated cards. It was made in single-ended format until around the mid-20th century after which time double-ended versions are more usual. When this happens some features of the old cards are lost. The Ace of Coins used to bear the tax stamp, and shows a single-headed, crowned eagle (as opposed to the Neapolitan double-headed eagle). Cards of Spanish design occur in those parts of Italy formerly under Spanish influence (Neapolitan, Piacentine, Romagnole, Sardinian and Sicilian patterns) although the ‘pintas’ or line-breaks in the outer frames have been lost. Early examples of the Piacentine pattern also have features related to French Aluette cards.
