The spades and hearts suits show the flags for the letters of the alphabet, and the clubs and diamonds suits show various other signal flags. The jokers show the flags for sending and receiving. The other deck with black backs shows semaphore and morse code. The spades and hearts suits show flag positions from the front for sending, and the clubs and diamonds suits show flag positions from the back for receiving. The jokers show flag positions from the front and back, respectively, for "Attention!" The backs are one way.
