Souvenir Playing Cards of the Southern Pacific Lines Sunset, Overland, Golden State and Shasta Routes. Poker cards in a slightly large box, hence the distortion in the pictures. The box includes a booklet explaining each of the cream and black views shown on the cards. One joker has a simple geometric design. There is another card with the same one way back as the other cards (shown below). It is an advertisement for a salad bowl one could get on board the train in black and white. "The SALAD BOWL Featured on our dining cars. Fresh. Crisp. Delicious. Made with the choicest vegetables. All you want. You help yourself. SOUTHERN PACIFIC. ... MAY BE USED AS AN EXTRA JOKER". The card also shows a black and white photo of a bowl with salad tongs and what looks like lettuce. The edges of the cards are gilt. The box is sturdy in a 'drawer' style. The card on the back is glued to the box.
